The Third Festival of the International
Guild of Town Pipers will take place in Lincoln, England, on 27th, 28th and 29th June 2008.
We usually hold a weekend festival every 2 years. Previous festivals have been in Holland and in York. All performances are free to the public. All
performances will be outdoors, unless the weather is too bad.
The third Festival is taking place in Lincoln because we have the newly formed "City of Lincoln Waites" here. Waites are Tudor Musicians, who perform on copies of original period instruments and who perform wearing correct historical costume. From Medieval times until the mid 19th Century, most English Boroughs had their own Band of Waites, who performed mainly at Civic functions, for the Mayor of the town/city.
This year's festival includes Bands from Lincoln, Doncaster, Leeds, King's Lynn, York, Colchester, Glouscester and s'Hertogenbosch.
