Bertran de Born

(c.1140 - before 1215)

Troubadour, later Vicomte d'Hautefort. He made trouble between Henry II of England and his sons, and Dante therefore portrays him in the Infernoas carrying his head in his hands as punishment; he ended his life in a monastery. Only one of his melodies survives, but he is one of the finest troubadour poets.
