Franciscus Andrieu (?Magister Franciscus)

(fl. late 14th C)

French composer. His lament for Machaut in ballade form in the Chantilly MS is the earliest known of many 'Déplorations'(elegies) for famous composers; it has sustained chords (possibly quoted from the Gloria and Credo of Machaut's Mass) at the words 'La mort Machaut.'
