Piero da Firenze (Maestro Piero)

(14th C)

Italian composer, who may have been associated with the courts of Milan and Verona where he took part in musical contests. His surviving output of nine works consists of three cacce (an unusually large number; most composers wrote only one caccia) including Con dolce brama which has a lively portrayal of the art of sailing, and six madrigals several of which are canonic.
