Jean (Johannes) Japart

Franco-Flemish composer. A singer at the Ferrara court in about 1500; sixteen of his chansons were published by Petrucci. He was especially skilled at reworking other composers' melodies, sometimes several at once, and liked to add enigmatic verbal mottoes to his pieces.
