Melchior Vulpius

(c1570 -1615)

German composer. Schoolmaster and cantor at Schleusingen (near Meiningen) from 1589, and town cantor at Weimar from 1596, He published many volumes of motets in up to eight parts and German sacred songs (which introduced new tunes to the congregational repertory), some of which went into several editions.
