Christofano Malvezzi

(1547 - 1599)


Italian composer. A canon at S. Lorenzo from 1562 under the patronage of the Medici, he was later organist there and in several other Florentine churches. From 1573 he was maestro di cappella at S. Giovanni Battista and at the Cathedral of Florence. His known compositions include keyboard and ensemble ricercars, madrigals, sinfonias and polychoral works for intermedi, and two motets.
