Simon Gintzler

(c1490 - after 1550)

Austrian lutenist. By 1547 he had been for many years in the service of the Cardinal Prince Bishop of Trent. In that year he published a lute book containing pieces in an Italianate style, and richly imitative ricercars which almost suggest organ rather than lute writing. He is also represented in anthologies of Gerle and Phalèse.
