3 HOASM: Giacomo Gorzanis

Giacomo Gorzanis

(c1525 - 1575)

Italian lutenist. He was blind and lived in Trieste, and his four published lute-books, in an elaborate virtuoso style, contain transcriptions of Neapolitan songs, and many dances, including saltarellos on all twelve semitones. The dances are often arranged as miniature suites, in groups such as passamezzo-padovano-saltarello, and make much use of variation techniques.
