Heinrich Finck

(1444/5 – 1527)

German composer. From boyhood until perhaps as late as 1510 he lived chiefly in Poland, often serving in the royal court. After 1510 his places of residence included Stuttgart, Salzburg, and Vienna. Of his sizable output relatively little survives; at least portions of over 100 sacred and secular pieces are extant. Many Masses and motets are missing parts. In contrast. most of his hymns and songs written after 1500 have survived intact. These include nearly thirty German Tenorlieder.<
