Thomas Caustun [Causton]

(c.1520-25? - 1569)

English composer. A Gentleman of the Chapel Royal from ca. 1550 until his death. Wrote mostly English cathedral music (anthems and services) published in Day's Certaine Notes(London, 1565). Also contributed to Day's The Whole Psalms in Foure Parts(London, 1563). His compositions, all for 4 voices, are largely chordal with occasional hints of imitative counterpoint.
