Thomas East [Easte, Este]

Printer and publisher. Active in England from 1565; greatly successful from 1588, when he started to print music. His publications include most of the works of Byrd and Morley; many books of songs or ayres, English madrigals, and lute songs by various composers, a book of music by Lassus; Yonge's Musica transalpina (1588, 1597), The Triumphs of Oriana (1601), and The Whole Booke of Psalmes (1592and later eds.), the first such collection to be printed in score rather than partbooks.
