Richard Nicholson

(1570? - 1639)



English composer and organist. Became master of the choristers at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1595, and the first Professor of Music at Oxford in 1627. He composed English and Latin church music, and consort songs, in humorous rather than melancholy vein, and contributed to the Triumphs of Oriana.
