Henry Stenings [Stonninge, Stoninge, Stoninges, Stoning, Stonings]

(fl. before 1548--after 1600)

English composer. He was described by Anthony Wood as 'a noted musician living in [the] reign of Queen Elizabeth [and] King James I.' Surviving consort works on MS are three five-part works -- a Miserere, a Browning and an In Nomine -- and a simpler, four-part In Nomine. A four-part Latin Magnificat is found in the Giffard partbooks.
