Italian composer. Became
maestro di cappella
to the Accademia Filarmonica in Verona in 1547; later worked in
Vicenza, and was
maestro
at Treviso cathedral from 1559. A friend of
Willaert
, whose publications of 1542 and 1547 included pieces of his,
he published villanellas and madrigals in up to eight parts; a
posthumous sacred collection including two Passions and a
Lamentation setting became very popular, being reprinted
several times.
