Martino Pesenti

(c1600 - 1647/8)

Italian composer, blind from birth. Pesenti was a pupil and skilful imitator of Monteverdi. He published eight volumes of concertato madrigals and arias; he was especially successful at matching melancholy texts with attractive and appropriate music. He also published four volumes of dances for keyboard, and one of church music for one to three voices.
