Natale Monferrato

(ca. 1603-1685)


Italian composer. A singer at St Mark's, Venice, from 1639, he was made vice-maestro di cappella there in 1647 and maestro di cappella (succeeding Cavalli) in 1676; he was also an organist and a teacher. His output, mostly sacred, includes masses in the stile antico and motets and psalms in a more modern style.
