Robert Ballard (printer)

French music printer, son of Pierre Ballard. He was a bookseller until inheriting the family music printing establishment upon his fatherŐs death in 1639. King Louis XIII named him sole printer to the king for music on Oct. 24, 1639. Under his direction, the firm published orchestral scores for the first time, and also initiated a song collection series.
