HOASM has been a special Sunday treat for the ears, and a first class resource of early music and musicology for as long as I can remember. If you ever retire, Chris, please arrange for WBAI to repeat it all- or at least issue a set of CDs of your eloquent texts. Thanks a million.

Whenever I'm looking for early music information, your website is one place I look: Quite often I find something that doesn't seem to be accessible anywhere else on the web. And I really like the 'Research Periods' as a way of putting things in context - even if the scheme has some drawbacks. A great site - thank you!

Thank you for providing so much beautiful music and so much fascinating information. I've been a WBAI subscriber since the late 1960s and yours is the show I listen to most regularly. Your web site is helpful too. Do you ever discuss how much great modern composers like Webern owe to early music?

One year ago my wife and I moved from the NYC suburbs and purchased a home in the wonderful Hudson Valley. One of the things I left behind and miss terribly is HOASM on Sunday Mornings. I know the web stream is available but listening to Early Music (and Chris' discourse) at 16kbps is akin to listening to a performance at St. John the Baptist from the bathrooms. Love the show! Love the inspiration and education! HOASM has opened me to a world of music that I otherwise may have taken for granted. Thank you, Chris!

I have a website with many ogg files of music from the Baroque time. "ogg" is a mp3 like format, however, ogg is a totally open source format (no fees) and for classical music ogg offers much better quality than mp3 ever could. However, since ogg isn't yet "mainstream" playing ogg files can still be tricky. Winamp 2.8 works with ogg (but Winamp 3 doesn't work) and foobar2000 works very well too. site -- http://cuba.calyx.nl/~oink/ogg/ Happy listening and let me know your opinion! boink. p.s. I'm very grateful for HOAS. I don't know of any musical programme anywhere with this quality.
